I am having a blast making all kinds of frozen treats with my Ninja Creami ice cream machine. The healthy ice cream recipes I am making with it are turning out fabulous! Today I’m sharing another Ninja Creami strawberry ice cream that is low carb, high protein, low fat and low calorie. You really can’t beat that!
I hope you can see from the pictures the creamy consistency of this ice cream. It’s hard to believe when you don’t have to use any heavy cream or regular white sugar and yet you can create the perfect texture. All you need are 4 basic ingredients!
So if you crave ice cream on a low carb diet and find the grocery selection to be lacking, give this recipe a try. It’s the perfect healthy dessert for those with a sweet tooth.
Why I love the Ninja Creami ice cream maker.
The Ninja Creami can make all kinds of frozen desserts like homemade ice cream, sorbets, gelato, smoothie bowls and milkshake. I’ve wanted one for about 6 months and finally broke down and bought one and boy am I glad I did. It’s so nice to be able to make healthy ice cream in any flavor I want and know it’s going to taste good.
It sort of works in reverse from regular ice cream makers which starts with frozen bowl that you pour your liquid mixture in and then let churn for 30 minutes. The Ninja Creami starts with a frozen pint of the base mixture and then the blades grinds it into a smooth and creamy ice cream in minutes.
You make the base mixture and have to freeze them for 20-24 hours but you then use the machine and you have a pint of ice cream (or whatever you want) in about 5 minutes.
It comes with a recipe book and 2 pint size ice cream storage containers that you use with the machine. I bought 2 more of these airtight containers so I have a few flavors in the freezer and then just whip up a batch when I’m in the mood.
Recipe ingredients I used.
You only need to use 4 simple ingredients to make this recipe – frozen strawberries, sugar free vanilla jello, Fairlife protein drink and Torani sugar free strawberry syrup. Note if you can find strawberry flavored Fairlife protein drink you won’t have even need the frozen fruit!
I found that Fairlife protein drinks make the most creamy protein ice creams. You can however use whatever vanilla protein drink you want. You can also use protein powder mixed with almond milk.
Because I’m a big fan of Torani sugar free syrups I always have a few bottles on hand. This strawberry flavor is great and just added more strawberry flavor to the recipe. However you can use any kind of keto friendly granulated sugar you want. And if you have any strawberry extract you can use that too.
My suggestion is that you taste the ice cream base when you make it and see if it is sweet enough. I found that once frozen it loses some of the sweetness so it’s best that the unfrozen base is very sweet. So adjust yours accordingly with your sweetener of choice if you don’t have Torani syrups.
Lastly I always have frozen strawberries on hand in the freezer but you can also use fresh fruit.
How to make this healthy Ninja Creami strawberry ice cream.
- Add to a blender or food processor the frozen strawberries, protein drink, sugar pudding and Torani syrup. Blend on high until the strawberries are pureed. Taste and see if it is sweet enough. Remember you want it to be very sweet because when it’s frozen it will lose some of the sweetness.
- Pour the mixture into the Ninja Creme pint jars that came with the machine. Freeze for 20-24 hours. Make sure to place in on a flat surface in the freezer.
- When the base is frozen and you are ready to eat the ice cream place it in the bowl assembly that came with the machine and use the Lite ice cream function. (Check instructions on how to run the machine.)When it’s done it will look like the picture in the top rights.
- Put it back in the machine and run it through the Lite cycle again (bottom left picture). You can see how it’s starting to get creamy. You can also try the re-spin function. It didn’t seem to work as well for me.
- You may have to do this 3-4 times until it gets that creamy texture like the last picture. Each batch seems to be different to me so you might have to play around to get the hang of it. Each cycle is just a little over 2 minutes. Mine usually turn out to have a thick soft serve texture and that’s how I like it.
- If it doesn’t seem to be getting past the powdery stage, add a tablespoon or two of almond milk, coconut milk or unsweetened coconut cream and that should help.
Eat this creamy treat right away for best results. If you only eat half you can put the lid back on and eat the rest later. You will probably want to run it through the machine again. I have set it in the microwave for 15-30 seconds to soften it but it taste better when run through the machine again.

Will this recipe work in a regular ice cream machine?
You can use this base recipe and make it in a traditional machine but you won’t get as creamy of a texture as this one. It will still taste good though.
To make this in a regular ice cream maker just mix the ingredients together and pour into your ice cream maker. Follow the manufacturers instructions. Usually they have an outer bowl that needs to be frozen ahead of time.
I do not think this would work for a no churn ice cream. That is when you pour it in the a container and freeze it. That is because of the much lower fat content.
And this is what the final version looks like. Doesn’t it look so creamy and delicious! And to think this is a healthy low carb, high protein ice cream! You can eat the whole pint and not feel bad about it.
You can add more strawberries to ice cream. Just chop up fresh strawberries and when you get the texture you like, put them in and use the mix it button. Below you can see what it looks like. It softened it up a bit but was still very delicious!
Well I hope you give this Ninja Creami recipe a try. I can’t tell you how much I love this appliance. I can’t wait for summer time when I can make a batch of ice cream enjoy a bowl of this deliciousness on a hot day.
It really is delicious and creamy treat but I love, love, love that this sugar free strawberry ice cream is low calorie and sugar free. I hope you like it too!

Keto Strawberry Ice Cream Recipe
This keto strawberry ice cream recipe only needs 4 ingredients to create creamy, delicious ice cream. This healthy sweet treat is also high protein, low calorie and low fat!
Ingredients
- 1 Fairlife Vanilla Shake
- 1 tablespoon sugar free vanilla pudding mix
- ½ cup strawberries, frozen
- 2 tablespoons Torani sugar free strawberry syrup*
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients to a high speed blender or food processor and blend until the strawberries are pureed. Taste and make sure it is sweet enough. When the base freezes it tends to lose some of the sweetness so make sure it is very sweet.
- Pour ice cream base into the Ninja Creami pint container and put the lid on. Place in the freezer for 20-24 hours to freeze. Make sure to place in on a flat surface in the freezer so it doesn't freeze on an angle.
- The next day, take the pint container in the Ninja Creami machine and press the Lite Ice Cream button. When done, check to see if it is creamy. If not run it through this cycle 2-3 more times until it's the ice cream consistency you like. If after then 3 time it is still crumbly, just add a tablespoon or two of almond milk, coconut milk or unsweetened coconut cream. Run it through the cycle again and it should be fine.
- When done, spoon the homemade strawberry ice cream into a bowl and enjoy! Store leftovers in the same pint container with it's lid and freeze. When you want to eat it again just run it through the machine again. Or let it thaw for a little bit.
- To make this without the Ninja machine: You can use this base recipe and make it in a traditional machine but you won’t get as creamy of a texture as this one. It will still taste good though. Just mix the ingredients together and pour into your ice cream maker. Follow the manufacturers instructions.
Notes
* You can substitute any kind of sweetener you want. I like the added strawberry flavor of the Torani syrup but regular sweetener will be fine.
If you can find Fairlife Strawberry protein drink that would be even better for this recipe and you won't even need the frozen fruit. For other substitutions please see the post.

Roman
Hi Denise,
Wonderful recipes, all of them! Got my Creami recently at Costco and the first recipe I tried was the orange Creamsicle 🍊 and it’s delicious!
I’m a type 1 diabetic for 20+ years and on a low carb diet. Your recipes are terrific! Keep up the great work!
To all the complainers, you always remember to complain but never to thank. If you don’t like an ingredient you can always replace it. Show some positivity or make your own! 🤐
Denise
Hi Roman, thank you for the kind words! I just LOVE my Ninja Creami machine. I have tried for years to make sugar free ice cream and they have never compared to the how good and easy it is with the Machine. Good luck and let me know if you come up with any good flavors! (PS I made one the other day but I have to tweet it. My husband and I thought it tasted like a bit of honey but it was quite sweet enough. I’ll probably make a post of it soon.)

To many stupid ads to even see the recipe!

Hi Joe,
I understand you frustration. I have a jump to recipe button at the top of the page to try to make it a little easier. I’m the sole provider for my family and it’s a tough time in the industry right now but I’ll look into my ad setup via the ad company.

Chris
I will not look at any more of your recipes if you do Not stop using pudding mixes and shake mixes… It’s not healthy and I don’t want to use them. Please at least offer alternatives.
Denise
Hi Chris, I’m sorry you do not feel these ingredients are not healthy but I do use them in recipes as I do use them in my diet.
However here are some alternatives:
– the pudding adds thickness, flavor and sweetness so you could use 1 tablespoon of cream cheese or even plain gelatin but you will want to add more sweetness and possible a flavor extract
– the shake mixes add protein, flavor and sweetness but you could using whipped cottage cheese or greek yogurt in place of some of the almond milk but you will want to add more sweetness and a flavor extract possibly
I hope that helps you a bit.
