Are peaches low carb?
While many kinds of fruit are higher in carbs, you might be surprised to know that peaches are not too bad to eat on a low carb diet, but in moderations. While they are not as low carb as berries, for a recipe like this where you don’t use that much they could be just fine.
One cup of peaches has just 13.4 grams net carbs and 71 calories (source). And for a recipe like this you could add ¼ cup of fresh diced peaches and only add a little bit over 3 grams of net carbs for the whole recipe.
Peaches are a good source of vitamins C, E and K. They also have a good bit of fiber, minerals and some antioxidants. Learn more.
Note if using them in this recipe, use fresh or frozen peaches not canned peaches which have added syrup in the can.
Recipe ingredients I use and substitutions.
You really only need 4 basic ingredients to make this recipe – almond milk, vanilla protein powder, cream cheese and sugar free peach syrup. If you want you can add some fresh ripe peaches as well. I suggest using fresh fruits not canned fruit if on a low carb diet.
Almond Milk
I always try to use the lowest carb milk I can which is usually unsweetened almond milk. However you could use other dairy free milks like coconut milk, cashew milk or if you don’t care about carbs you can use regular milk. I would not use sweetened or flavored milk because it will take away from the peach flavor. Just use plain.
You could also use heavy cream if you don’t care about calories, dairy or fat content. But if using heavy cream, use half almond milk and half heavy cream.
Cream Cheese
This is used as a low carb way to add creaminess to the recipe. Other things to try are sugar free pudding (just a tablespoon) or you could also try sugar free peach jello. That is a bit harder to find so cream cheese is an easy ingredient to find and use.
Sugar Free Peach Syrup
I am a big fan of Torani sugar free syrups and I especially love this sugar free peach flavor. We use it a lot in the summer as my husband loves to make iced tea. It’s also great in cocktails.
However if you can’t find it or need a substitute here are a few ideas to try. As I just mentioned you could try:
- sugar free peach jello – This will add peach flavor, sweetness and thicken the ice cream. Here is an assortment of sugar free jello flavors and this is a plant based brand.
- peach flavoring – Flavor extracts are a good low carb way to add flavor without any carbs or calories. However it doesn’t have any sweetness nor help with the thickening so you could still want to use the cream cheese and will also have to add sweeteners.
- sugar free peach drink mix – You can buy these online but I often find them at Dollar General, the dollar store, Target or grocery stores. Summer is a good time to buy them. They add both sweetness and flavor.
How to make keto Ninja Creami peach ice cream.
- Add all the ingredients to a blender or whisk together in a bowl. Pour the peach mixture into the pint container that came with Ninja Creami machine. Attach the storage lid and place in the freezer for 24 hours or overnight. Make sure to lay it on a level surface in the freezer so it freezes evenly.
- When ready to eat take out pint from freezer and take off the lid and place in the outer bowl assembly along with the lid. Place in the Ninja Creami ice cream maker and use the LITE ice cream function.
- When done take off outer bowl lid and look at the texture. If it’s powdery place it back into the outer bowl assembly and use the LITE ice cream button again. Take it out and if it’s still doesn’t have a creamy texture you can add a tablespoon of almond milk and run it through one more time.
- If you want to add a bit of fresh diced peaches you can run it through at the end with the Mix-In button but when I did that it was a bit more slushier as you can see in the last set of photos below. It was still good but I think I would prefer to to have hand mixed the chunks of peach in at the end. You don’t need to add any though. Also you can use frozen fruit as long as it doesn’t have added sugar.
- Scoop the delicious ice cream out and into bowls and serve. These pint containers make 2-3 good size servings. If you don’t eat the whole thing, smooth out the top and place a lid on and refreeze on a level surface. When ready to eat again run it through the machine like you did the first time.

The nutritional recipe for 1 serving without fresh peaches is 124 calories / 6.1g fat / 3.1g carbs / 0.6g fiber / 14.1g protein = 2.5g net carbs

Healthy Ninja Creami Peach Ice Cream Recipe
This healthy Ninja Creami peach ice cream recipe is super creamy and delicious but also low carb and high protein. It's the sweet treat that you can feel good about eating.
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups unsweetened almond milk
- ¼ cup sugar free Torani peach syrup*
- 1 ounce cream cheese, softened
- 1 scoop IsoPure Zero Carb Vanilla protein powder
- ¼ cup fresh peaches, chopped **
Instructions
- In a high speed blender, food processor or immersion blender, add the ingredients to the it and blend for a few seconds until the cream cheese is well combined. Taste and see if it is sweet enough. You want it to be sweet because when it freezes it loses a bit of sweettness. Add a bit more peach syrup if it needs it and mix again.
- When it's to your liking, pour into the pint storage container and attach the lid. Place in the freezer overnight on a flat surface so it freezes evenly.
- When ready to eat, take off the lid and place in the outer assembly bowl and attach the lid. Place in the Ninja Creami machine and hit the LITE ice cream button. When it's done take off outer bowl lid and check the texture. If it's powdery place the lid back on and run through the LITE cycle again.
- Again take of the lid when it's done and check the texture. If it's still powdery you can add a tablespoon of almond milk and run it through one more time and it should be nice and creamy.
- Serve in bowls and enjoy. If you have leftovers, place back in the pint container and smoothe surface of the ice cream so after you freeze it again you can run it through the machine to eat it the next day. Follow the same instructions until you get the consistency you want.
- ** If you want to add fresh peaches to this recipe, use ¼ cup of chopped peaches and either hand mix them in your bowl or you can place it back in the machine and use the mix-in button. Sometimes this makes the ice cream slushie so be cautious if you do this. Also it might pulverize the peaches. That's why I just like to add about 2 tablespoons per serving into individual bowls or ¼ cup in the whole container by hand. But you can do both.
- * If you don't have peach syrup you can play around with sugar free peach jello, drink mix or peach extract to get the same flavor. See the notes below for more information.

If you don't have any Torani's or other brand of sugar free peach syrup try:
- sugar free peach jello - This will add peach flavor, sweetness and thicken the ice cream.
- peach flavoring extract - Flavor extracts are a good low carb way to add flavor without any carbs or calories. However it doesn't have any sweetness nor help with the thickening so you could still want to use the cream cheese and will also have to add sweeteners.
- sugar free peach drink mix - You can buy these online but I often find them at Dollar General, the dollar store, Target or grocery stores. Summer is a good time to buy them. They add sweetness and flavor.
