My son is graduating from high school and I made the stupid decision to have his party at my house so I’m trying to find easy appetizer recipes that can feed a very large crowd. So I’m in experimenting mode and came up with this keto air fryer kielbasa bites recipe.
I like it because it’s super easy, only needs 4 ingredients and takes less than 20 minutes start to finish. Plus it’s something I think a lot of people will enjoy. I’ve has something similar at other parties and it’s always a hit. I made it low carb and sugar free but it’s not necessary if you are not on a keto diet.
Recipe ingredients I used.
The simple ingredients I used are Polish kielbasa, soy sauce, Swerve brown sweetener and hot sauce. No need for salt and black pepper because the sausage is salty and the hot sauce add the heat. That being said you could always add it if you wish.
The Polish kielbasa I used is from Aldi. Typically it comes in a variety of meats and you can use any type of kielbasa you want, be it pork, beef or turkey. However if you care about the carbs just make sure you check the nutritional label.
Kielbasa and Polish sausage are often referred to as the same thing in the US. Learn more about kielbasa & smoked sausage here.
I use Swerve brown sugar sweetener as it’s my favorite and tastes just like regular brown sugar but if you are not low carb just use the same amount of regular.
And you can use any kind of hot sauce. This recipe is a little spicy but not too hot. It think the sweetness really balances the heat. Feel free to add a bit more or even hot pepper flakes if you want it hotter.
How to make keto air fryer kielbasa bites.
Note if you have a smaller air fryer you might have to make these in batches. I have an 8 quart air fryer.
Step 1: Spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
Step 2: In a small bowl add the hot sauce, brown sugar sweetener and soy sauce. Mix well and microwave for 30 – 60 seconds. You just want the brown sugar to dissolve. Taste it and if you want it sweeter add a bit more sweetener or if you want it spicier add a bit more hot sauce.
Step 3: Slice the kielbasa into small ¼ – ½ inch coins. Place them in a large bowl and pour over half of the sauce mixture. Mix well and spoon into the air fryer basket. Try to keep in a single layer as much as you can.
Step 4: Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook for 10-13 minutes until the kielbasa pieces are browned to your liking. You can put them back in for a couple minutes if you want crispier pieces. Cooking time may vary.
Step 5: Take the air fried kielbasa out and place in a serving bowl. You can eat them as is or pour the rest of the sauce over top if you like them saucy. You can also use the extra as a dipping sauce or use your favorite dipping sauce with them.
