This low carb bbq salmon is easily made indoors and has a creamy garlic herb sauce to top it off. A low carb bbq rub on the salmon is spicy and sweet and the creamy sauce is a cooling compliment to the dish.

Ok, so originally I was going to make this on the grill. Summer is the time for grilling. However I had everything prepared and I was in a hurry and when I went to light the grill it was out of propane. So plan B was to make this low carb bbq salmon in a grill pan instead. It was still delicious and had that grilled look so I can make this salmon recipe all year round!
Salmon Recipes For Summer
I love salmon but I don’t make it often because I forget to buy it. However now that Aldi has fresh salmon all the time I am making it more. Two of my favorite ways to prepare salmon is this lime margarita grilled salmon and this chili soy salmon. Both are light as well as quick and easy for summer dinner. Now I have a third recipe for you to try!
Low Carb BBQ Salmon Recipe
I used a dry rub on this bbq salmon instead of a sauce because I thought the sauce would over power the fish. I do have a low carb sauce if you are looking for one though. I first sprayed both sides of the salmon with cooking spray then rubbed the spices into the salmon. Then I cut it into filets. Lastly I got out a grill pan and sprayed that with cooking spray.
I used this grill pan, got it really hot and then placed the salmon filets skin side down. Then turn the heat down to medium. You want to cook it about 8-10 minutes to get the skin crispy. Then flip and cook the other side only for about 5 minutes. Timing may vary depending on the thickness of the filets. I had to do this in 3 batches because I had 6 filets.
Creamy Garlic Herb Sauce For Salmon
Today I used basil and cilantro in my herb sauce because I have lots of basil growing in my garden and extra cilantro. However you can use whatever herbs you like as long as they are fresh. I think parsley would be a good addition. Add them to a food processor along with a clove of garlic and pulse until finely minced. Then add in the sour cream and whiz to make your garlic herb sauce!
If You Are Grilling Salmon
As I mentioned above, I wanted to do this on the grill. If you decide to do that, spray your grill before heating it and then lay it on the grill skin side down. Cook it until it’s cooked about ½ of the way up the fish from the skin, then flip for a few more minutes.
This is good with our without the herb sauce but I’m a sucker for a creamy sauce. The nutritional information for 1 filet and 1 tablespoon of sauce is:
1 T sauce = 30 cals / 2.5g fat /0.6g carbs / 0.0 fiber / 05g protein = 0.6g net carbs
1 filet = 350 cals / 10.1g fat / 4g carbs / 2.3g fiber / 58.3g protein = 1.7g net carbs
PS This cucumber slaw with margarita dressing goes great wit this bbq salmon dish.
