Recipe ingredients and substitutions.
You just need 3 simple ingredients for this recipe and that is cantaloupe, lemon juice and sweeter or sugar. You also need a little water so it’s easier to blend.
Cantaloupe
Obviously you have to use fresh cantaloupe but you could also substitute with other melons. Here is my watermelon sorbet recipe if you are interested in that melon.
As I mentioned above you can use leftover cut up fruit but you could also use less ripe fruit. If you have ever cut up a melon and been disappointed because it wasn’t ripe enough this is a good use for it. You will have to add a bit more sugar or sweetener but to me this is a good way to use it up.
Sweetener or Sugar
I like to use sweetener because I’m always trying to keep my sugar intake low however you can use regular white sugar if that is not a concern of yours. Other sweeteners to try are honey, agave syrup or even maple syrup or coconut sugar.
How to make cantaloupe sorbet in the Ninja Creami.
Step 1: Get out a high speed blender like a Vitamix and add the cantaloupe cubes, sweetener (or sugar) lemon juice and water. Note you can also use a food processor if you want.
Step 2: Blend on high until nice and smooth. Taste it and make sure it’s sweet enough for you. If not add a bit more sweetener or sugar. Pour into the pint container that came with Ninja Creami machine and put on the storage lid. Place it on a level surface in your freeze overnight.
Step 3: When ready to eat, take out the pint container with the frozen mixture and place in the outer bowl assembly and attach the lid. Place in the Ninja Creami machine and hit the sorbet button.
Step 4: When it’s done, take it out of the machine and take off the outer bowl assembly lid and check the texture. If it’s powdery place the lid back on and run through the machine again using the sorbet function again.
Step 5: If it’s still not quite creamy you can run it through one more time using the sorbet function. Above you can see what it looks like after 2 cycles and below what it looks like after 3.
You don’t want to process it too much or it will get soupy. Here is a reel I did on Instagram showing how I made a raspberry sorbet in the Ninja Creami so you can see how to do it.
Spoon into bowls and enjoy. If you don’t finish the whole thing, smooth the top of the pint container to create a level surface. Then place the storage lid back on the container and refreeze. It has to be frozen before you can run it through the machine again.
I can usually get 2-3 servings out of one pint. Please scroll down to view the printable recipe card.

Cantaloupe Sorbet Recipe (Ninja Creami)
This easy cantaloupe sorbet recipe is refreshing and sweet and perfect for a hot summer day. The sweet melon sorbert only needs 3 ingredients and it the Ninja Creami machine makes it a breeze.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cantaloupe melon, chunks
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ⅓ cup sugar or sweetener
- ⅓ cup water
Instructions
- Add cantaloupe cubes and the other ingredients to a high speed blender or food processor and blend until it turns into liquid.
- Note I used sweetener to keep the carbs down but you can use regular white sugar if you don't care about that. Taste for the sweetness level. If your melon is not very sweet you might want to use a little more.
- Pour into Ninja Creami pint container that came with the Ninja Creami machine. Place the storage lid on pint and place in the freezer overnight. Make sure to place on a level spot in the freezer so it freezes evenly.
- When ready to eat the next day, take off the storage lid and place into the out assembly bowl and attach lid. Place in the machine and hit the sorbet button. Once it's run through the cycle take out and check the texture.
- If it has a powdery texture, attach the outer bowl lid assembly again and place in the machine. Hit the sorbet cycle again. You may have to do it 3 times in total though or it might only need 1 cycle. It's been different for me at different times. NOTE if you do it too many times it will have a slushy texture.
- When it's smooth and creamy, take out of the machine and spoon into bowls. I can usually get 2-3 servings out of one container.
- When done eating, if there are leftovers, smooth the top of the sorbet so it's an even layer, place the storage lid on and freeze. To eat after frozen, just run through the machine again like above.
