Halloween is just around the corner and already I see various decorations going up in the neighborhood. Last year I made a bunch of really cool low carb Halloween drinks in the flavors of my favorite candy such as Swedish fish and Twix bars. This year I’m all about the apple and have come up with a low carb candy apple drink and a low carb caramel apple drink.
You can drink either hot or cold and with or without alcohol. Best of all they are super easy to make and have virtually no carbs!
The Secret To Delicious Sugar Free Drinks – Torani Syrups
You know I love Torani syrups for many of my coffee and matcha tea drinks but they are also great for flavoring ice tea and making alcoholic drinks. They have over 30 sugar free syrup flavors to pick from and you can use them for so many things.
I’ve tried other brands and I truly think Torani’s flavor is superior and that’s why I’ve been using them for years. These two low carb apple drinks use 3 of my favorite flavors: sugar free salted caramel, peach and raspberry.
Low Carb Apple Drink Ingredients
The hardest part of making this drink was getting the apple flavor right. I tried all three apple flavored drinks above as well as two different apple flavor extracts to try and get the flavor I wanted and here are the results:
- Sparkling Ice Crisp Apple: My son loves Ice drinks so when I saw this flavor I grabbed it. This was very good for a cold drink or cocktail. You have to dilute it because it’s sweet and when you add the Torani sugar free syrups it can get really sweet. And while you can drink it warm it’s not as good as the cider.
- Alpine Sugar Free Apple Cider: This had the best taste for a hot drink. Again you can use alcohol or not and you want to dilute it because it’s very sweet. The downfall for this one is that it has 4g net carbs per packet and while you can get 2 drinks from it, the others have 0g net carbs.
- Bubly Apple Sparkling Water: This is good for a cold drink and better for a subtle alcoholic drink. It doesn’t have any carbs.
- Apple Extracts: I wasn’t really excited by Lorann’s Oil Apple Flavoring as it had a really odd taste. Capella apple flavor drops were good but I didn’t get them in the mail until too late so I need to play around more.
- Torani Sugar Free Syrups: I used raspberry and peach for the candy apple flavor and salted caramel for the caramel apple drink.
- Vodka: To make these drinks alcoholic I just used plain mid-shelf vodka. You can try a flavored vodka but make sure it doesn’t have added sugar.
Cold Candy Apple Low Carb Drink Recipe
This was really good. I was excited to try it because there is no way I know of to make a real sugar free candy apple so may as well drink one! The two syrups I used were Torani Sugar Free Peach Syrup and Torani Sugar Free Raspberry Syrup. If you are using:
- Ice Crisp Apple as the base then mix ½ cup of Crisp Apple + ½ cup water + 1 tablespoon each of Torani sugar free peach and sugar free raspberry syrups.
- Bubly Sparkling Apple mix 1 cup of the apple Bubly + 2 tablespoons of Torani sugar free peach and sugar free raspberry syrups.
- Vodka for an alcoholic drink, just add 1 shot of vodka and you might want to increase Torani sugar free syrups to 3 tablespoons each.
Hot Candy Apple Cider Drink Recipe
For this low carb hot candy apple cider drink, I used the Alpine sugar free cider.
- This cider has 4g of net carbs per pouch but you can get at least 2 drinks from it so that’s 2g net carbs per drink.
- Double the water it calls for and add in 2 tablespoons each of Torani sugar free peach and raspberry syrups.
- To make it alcoholic add 1 shot of vodka per drink.
- Note you can also use the Ice Crisp Apple and warm it up but the cider is better for a hot drink.
Cold Caramel Apple Low Carb Drink
My son liked this drink the best though he really liked the candy apple one too (no vodka for him of course). Again you can make this hot or cold, and use alcohol if you wish. If you are using:
- Ice Crisp Apple as the base then mix ½ cup of Crisp Apple + ½ cup water + 2 tablespoons Torani sugar free salted caramel syrup.
- Bubly Apple mix 1 cup of Bubly Apple + 2-3 tablespoons Torani sugar free salted caramel syrup.
- Vodka for an alcoholic drink, just add 1 shot of vodka and you might want to increase the Torani sugar free salted caramel syrup to 3-4 tablespoons.
Hot Caramel Apple Cider Drink
When making the hot caramel apple drink, use the sugar free cider but double the water and add 4 tablespoons of Torani sugar free salted caramel syrup. And to make it alcoholic add 2 shots of vodka. Remember this will make 2 drinks.
Other Ways To Use Torani Sugar Free Syrups On A Low Carb Diet:
- use them in coffee, hot cocoa and matcha tea drinks
- flavor unsweetened ice tea with their fruit flavors
- mix them with flavored seltzer waters and vodka for a light cocktail
- try them in smoothies and protein drinks
- great in chia puddings, gelatin desserts, popsicles and whipped cream
Well I hope you enjoy these low carb apple drinks as much as my family did. Even my diabetic father in law enjoyed them. They would be great for a low carb snack in the fall too when you are craving apples.
Then nutritional information will depend on what you use so here are the components:
Ice Crips Apple and Bubly Apple Selzer Water have 0g net carbs and 0 calories (for 1 drink).
