I haven’t made meatza (which is a pizza crust made out of ground meat) for a long time. I don’t know why because it’s really tasty and my family loves it. So today I made a keto ground turkey crust pizza with pepperoni and peppers.

I like it because it’s a gluten free pizza and low carb. Each slice has only has only 3.6g net carbs, 154 calories and it’s very filling.
What is meatza & other low carb crust pizza.
If you’ve never heard of meatza it is simply a crust made from ground meat – usually ground beef, turkey or chicken. Since meat is very if not no carb and tasty, it makes a great keto pizza crust.
There are other low carb pizza crust options too. I’ve made a cauliflower pizza crust, fathead dough pizza crust even a pepperoni pizza frittata. They also are very delicious so if you are on a keto diet and experimenting with low carb pizzas, they are worth a try. Each taste different and equally delicious IMO.
Recipe ingredients I used.
For the turkey pizza crust I used ground turkey, an egg, parmesan cheese, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and black pepper. Note you can also use ground chicken or even lean ground beef.
To top the pizza I used a little of Aldi’s Specialty Selects marinara sauce as it’s pretty low carb. I also really like Rao’s marinara for a pizza sauce. It has the same amount of carbs and I love the taste.
Other toppings I used today are mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and bell peppers. You can use whatever your favorite toppings are on this pizza. Today I’m just showing you the concepts of a pizza crust made from meat – toppings optional.
How to make keto ground turkey crust pizza!
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F. To make the ground turkey pizza crust, get out a large bowl and mix together 1 pound of ground turkey, an egg, parmesan cheese, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt and black pepper.
Mix them together like a meat loaf. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment or silicon mat. Form the mixture into the shape of a pizza (oval or circle) and try to get it uniformly thin using your hands.
Step 2: Bake for about 20 minutes or until the crust is cooked but not browned. Cooking time may vary depending on how thick you make your crust. Just keep checking on it.
Step 3: Once the crust is cooked through, start adding your toppings. Use a low carb sauce, mozzarella cheese and from there add any kind of meat or vegetable you wish.
Step 4: Place it back in the oven and bake for another 5 minutes. Then place it under the broiler to brown the top if you want. Let cool before serving.

Recipe Notes & Tips
- The thinner you make the turkey crust the less time it takes to cook. So check on it to make sure it is cooked but not too browned. It will cook more when you put on the toppings and pop it back into the oven.
- For a relatively low carb sauce I like Aldi’s Specialty Selects marinara sauce. You can use whatever you want but make sure the carbs are low as tomato sauces can have a lot of sugar in them.
- As for the rest of your toppings, try to stick to meats and low carb vegetables. Check out this post for low carb vegetable carb counts. I love the flavor combination red onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and pepperoni.
Well I hope you enjoy this keto ground turkey crusty pizza as much as we did. It’s very tasty and filling and I’m sure it will b come a family favorite recipe!

The garlic isn’t in the ingredients list. Fresh or powdered and how much.
And there’s a typo for salt in the ingredients.

Hi Kim,
My apologies … I’ve fixed the recipe. Thank you for pointing that out. You need 2 cloves of garlic, crushed. I hope you like it!

I’ve made this before and added fennel seeds. Tasted like sausage.

Very tasty! I poured off the grease after baking the “crust”, patted it dry with a paper towel, then added the sauce and toppings. Thanks for a new low carb option.
Denise
So glad you liked it Leslie! Thanks for coming back to share your tips!

Have you tried freezing this recipe? Always looking for things I can make double and freeze half.
Denise
I have not but since it’s much like a hamburger I think it should work but I have not tried it. Let me know if you do it!

Thank you for this! Making the crust was fast and easy. I eyeballed the ingredients and though at first the crust didn’t look appetizing, it was well worth it once I enjoyed it with the toppings on. Ended up baking the turkey in the toaster oven at 400F. My new favourite treat meal! Didn’t even need sauce. Rolled out the turkey nice and thin so it didn’t taste meaty; it was simply the vessel for delivering my toppings. Cant wait to make it again.
