I’ve been making this keto chocolate peanut butter candy on and off for years. It’s really my favorite candy and it’s easy to whip up. And an added benefit is that the coconut oil is very filling to me. So I like to keep a batch on hand in the freezer to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Over the years I’ve made all kinds of keto chocolate candy recipes but this coconut oil candy is my go to because it’s very simple and I usually have all the basic ingredients.
So if you are like me and have a sweet tooth or chocolate cravings while on a low carb diet, give this chocolate peanut butter candy a try. One pieces has just 0.8 grams net carbs so you can’t beat that!
Why I used coconut oil for my keto candy.
I mainly used coconut oil as the base of my candy because it’s easy to use and buy. However coconut oil has many healthy benefits. For this recipe it works great because I store these in the freezer and it hardens quickly. I make a big batch and can store these treats for a long time in the freezer.
I also like coconut oil because it curbs my hunger. It’s great for fat bombs and essentially that is what these are.

The 4 ingredients I used and substitutions.
The 4 simple ingredients I used were coconut oil, unsweetened cocoa powder, peanut butter powder and sweetener.
PB2 Peanut Butter Powder
I used to make this with Aldi’s peanut butter powder but can’t find it anymore so I bought PB2. You can use whatever brand of powder you want. The powder gives you that peanut butter flavor but with less fat, calories and carbs. As an alternative you could also use natural peanut butter with no sugar added.
And if you are allergic to peanut butter you can substitute with sunflower seed butter or almond butter. Both have similar flavors and while they are not powders they will still work as would other nut butters. Sunflower seed butter is good for those with a nut allergy.
Divine Cocoa Powder
I now only use this particular brand – Divine Cocoa Powder – because it has no carbs and it has a rich chocolate flavor. I can get it at bigger grocery stores but often just buy it online. However you can use regular cocoa powder too. It just tastes better and has a little less carbs with the Divine cocoa powder.
Coconut Oil
I used to buy big tubs of coconut oil at Costco or online but now Aldi sells little jars and since I go there twice a week I prefer the smaller jar. Again you can buy any brand that you want. And since it’s a key ingredient I would not substitute it.
Sweetener
I love Swerve sweetener brand but you can use your sweetener of choice. I used the granular sweetener today and sometimes use the powdered sweetener one but it doesn’t matter which keto friendly sweetener you use.
If you don’t care about carbs, other things you can use for sweetness are coconut sugar, regal white sugar, maple syrup or honey instead instead of the Swerve sweetener.

How to make this super easy keto chocolate peanut butter candy recipe.
Step 1: Get out a microwave safe bowl or a pyrex measuring cup works even better because the spout. Add the coconut oil, cocoa powder, sweetener and peanut butter powder.
Step 2: Place in the microwave and heat for 30 seconds. Take out and mix. If it needs to melt more, place back in the microwave for 10 second increments until it’s melted completely.

Step 3: Pour the chocolate mixture into candy molds or even ice cube trays. You can buy molds at the dollar store and there are all kinds of inexpensive candy molds on Amazon. They come in handy for keto treats like this one.
Note I got 13 candies for this batch because I made them a bit thinner but I usually get just 12 and the nutrition info reflects that. Depending on what kind of mold you use you will determine how many candies you get out of this recipe

Step 4: Place in the freezer to harden for at least 15 minutes. Then take them out and pop out of the mold. Store them in an airtight container or ziplock baggie. Please scroll down for the printable recipe card.

I like to keep them in the freezer because they can last for months but you can also keep them in the refrigerator. But note that the coconut oil can make these melt in your hands quickly so they have to be kept in either the refrigerator or freezer.

You an even mix it up a bit and add a few nuts to the candies if you want. Or forgo the peanut butter powder and use a drop of mint flavoring for a chocolate mint candy.
I pop one in my mouth whenever I want, but take it from me, you can’t really sit down and devour a whole bunch of them. The coconut oil is really filling. They will fill you up for hours.
People on low carb or keto diets call these fat bombs. Their high content of healthy fats keep you in ketosis or fat burning mode and have the benefit of tasting good. That being said you shouldn’t eat a bunch of them. One or two for a snack is perfectly filling and satisfying.

I miss fruit the most when I am low carbing it; however, I do get the occasional chocolate craving. This is such a great little snack when those cravings sneak up. I also love that you can make them in fun little shapes. Too cute!

Thank you! Yeah I miss fruit too but for awhile I’ll have to go without.Though I’d take chocolate over fruit anyway.
