I love a good meatball and I have many low carb meatballs on this blog. However today I wanted to make this keto turkey meatballs recipe because I found a tasty lower carb sauce and my family LOVES spaghetti and meatballs.
So I made these healthy turkey meatballs with cheese and spices but no almond flour, no pork rinds and of course no breadcrumbs. They were awesome and my family especially loved them.

Ingredients for Turkey Meatballs
The ingredients I used for these low carb turkey meatballs were: ground turkey, an egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, tomato paste, onion powder, salt & black pepper and grated Parmesan cheese.
So you can see these are gluten free, nut free and pork rind free! Note if you are Paleo you can substitute nutritional yeast for the Parmesan cheese.
Let’s make some low carb turkey meatballs!
- Add the ground turkey in a large bowl and gently break it up.
- Pour the grated cheese on top.
- Beat an egg with the tomato paste and spices and pour over the turkey meat.
- Use your hands to mix it all up then roll into meatballs. I love this cookie scoop for making them all uniform.
- Heat up some olive oil in a large skillet and brown the meatballs all over. Keep them in a single layer for best results.
- Pour over the sauce, cover and cook for 10 minutes or until the meaball are cooked through.
My new favorite marinara sauce
My new favorite sauce is Rao’s which has 5g net carbohydrates per half cup. I by it at Costco when I’m there because we all love the taste.
My second favorite low carb pasta sauce is Aldi’s Specially Selected Premium Marinara sauce which also has 5g net carbohydrates per half cup. So far these are my two favorite tomato sauces but I would like Rao’s regardless for it’s carb count.
Recipe Notes & Tips
- Be as gentle as you can when mixing the ground meat mixture. If the meat is too tightly packed it will be tougher. (more meatball tips)
- Try to make the meatballs all the same size. I used a cookie scoop and this helps to shape them so you are handling the turkey mixture less.
- Have a bowl of water near you when forming the balls. Keeping your hands wet will keep the meatballs from sticking to your hands.
- I used Rao’s pasta sauce because it’s my favorite. You can use any sauce you like.
- If you aren’t using a sauce you may want to bake the turkey meatballs in the oven. Brown them first then bake for 20-30 minutes in a 350°F oven until they are cooked through.
- I would consider these Italian meatballs by they way as we are using Italian herbs and spices.

Keto Turkey Meatball Recipe
The keto ground turkey meatballs are perfect for a low carb spaghetti dinner. They are easy to make and absolutetly delicious!
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey (I used 85%)
- 1 egg, beaten
- ¾ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasonings
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 ½ cups Rao Marinara Sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Add the ground turkey to a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
- Gently break the meat a part a little with a large spoon.
- Beat the egg and mix with the tomato paste and spices. Pour over the turkey mixture.
- Using your hands mix the ingredients all together gently taking care to not to compact the meat too much. This would make it tough and chewy.
- Have a bowl of water nearby and wet your hands as you are rolling the meatballs. I like to use a cookie scoop to keep them all the same size and it partially forms the meatballs for you.
- Heat the oli in a large skillet. Add the meatballs and brown on all sides.
- If using the sauce, pour it over the meatballs and cover the skillet with a lid.
- Cook for 10 minutes until they are cooked through.
- Serve over zucchini noodles or other low carb pasta.

Colette Dineen
how many ounces in each meatball?
Denise
Hi Colette, I really don’t have an exact number and I don’t know the weight of many of the products. But since I used 16 oz of turkey and made 30 meatballs, each one has 0.53 oz of turkey in them. Hope that helps a bit.
