Some nights, especially in the summer, my husband and I like to have an antipasto platter for dinner. It’s nice to sit out on the porch, sip a glass of wine and talk about our days over a platter of delicacies such as this low carb cheese platter.

This platter is full of some of my favorite low carb snacks and goodies that would be great for a party but also makes for an easy low carb dinner that requires no cooking!

What Kind Of Cheeses Did I Use?

Most cheese is low carb so it’s always nice to experiment with new types. I went to an Italian store downtown and had the gentleman behind the cheese counter give me some suggestions. He said it’s always nice to get a soft, medium and hard cheese so that is what I did.

And he let me sample them which was a bonus! I bought a nice size chunk of the following cheeses on his recommendation:

  • La Dama: Spanish raw goat’s milk cheese that is salty, grainy, intense
  • Ossau-Iraty: French cheese made from sheep’s milk that is smooth, creamy and firm (my favorite)
  • Vlaskaas: Dutch cheese, firm, yet creamy texture and a sweet, sharp flavor

Low Carb Crackers & Condiments

I also wanted to include some low carb crackers. I intended to buy some Mary’s Gone Crackers but I couldn’t find any locally however you can buy some online. Instead I decide to make my own and it was very simple. So I made some low carb everything crackers to go with the other goodies.

You can also try cheese bites that you can buy at Costco or Sam’s Club. I bought mine at Trader Joes and they are a tasty low carb snack. Berries are a low carb fruit that adds a bit of sweetness complements all the savory items. Below are some of the items I bought and included.

More Low Carb Snacks You Can Buy

Pickled vegetables, steamed asparagus, olives, avocados, hard boiled eggs, various meats, smoked salmon, cucumbers, artichoke hearts, flavored mustards and berries are the other items on this tray. Below I will give you the carb count of all of these to give you some idea of what to include in your platter.

Put A Low Carb Cheese Platter Together

So the idea is to assemble a nice big platter like above and have this for a low carb dinner instead of cooking one night.

  • Start by picking 3 different and interesting cheeses to start with.
  • Then add a few proteins  (deli meat, smoked salmon, eggs, etc).
  • From there fill in with some pickled items, fresh vegetables, berries and low carb crackers and condiments.
  • Choose from the list above and have a nice night noshing with a low carb cocktail and good company!

I hope you like this idea for a quick and easy low carb dinner. Of course you can make this for a party too but it’s really nice on a hot summer evening or on a weekend when you just don’t have the time or energy to cook. Enjoy!

The nutrition for ¼ of a whole platter serving is:

527 cals / 40.8g fat / 11g carbs / 4.3g fiber / 30g protein = 6.7g net carbs
