Recipe ingredients I used.
I only used 4 basic ingredients to make these bagels and they are self rising flour, Greek yogurt, dried cranberries and raw pecans.
The only 2 ingredients you really need are yogurt and self rising flour. This is not regular flour but it’s essential to use it in this recipe. Once you get the hang of it you can play around and make other flavors.
These bagels are chewy and delicious. They have slight tang or sour taste to them because of the yogurt so they might be better suited for savory bagels. However these cranberry pecan ones were very good so experiment!
How to make cranberry pecan air fryer bagels.
Step 1: Get out a medium bowl and add all of the ingredients. Use a wood spoon or rubber spatula to combine all the ingredients. You might have to get in there and use your hands too. Once it comes together you are ready to form into bagels. Note it will be a bit wet but should all come and not be too sticky.
Step 2: Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and set aside. Place the dough on a floured surface and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll the each piece into a dough ball then use your hands to form long ropes. Finally connect both ends and shape dough into a bagel form. Continue with the other pieces of dough.
Step 3: Place the bagels into the sprayed air fryer basket and you can either brush melted butter, egg whites or just spray some cooking spray on top. That is what I did.
Step 4: Air fry bagels at 350°F for about 10-12 minutes. You might have to the bagels in batches depending on the basket size of your air fryer. You don’t want to crowd them. Note these are smaller in size than a regular bagel and cooking times will vary depending on how big you make them.
Step 5: Once golden brown on top and firm to the touch, they are done. Let them cool before eating. They will get a little harder and chewier as they cool. Serve with cream cheese, butter or your favorite topping. (Please scroll down to view and print the recipe card.)
How to store them.
Store leftover bagels in an airtight container or baggie in the refrigerator. You can also freeze them and then reheat by popping them into the microwave for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
More flavors to add in and top your homemade bagels.
There are so many bagel variety possibilities with this 2 ingredient dough base. You can add things to the dough to add flavor such as nuts, seeds, dried fruits, chocolate chips, etc.
And you can try different toppings like cinnamon sugar, cheeses, everything bagel seasoning, kosher salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, season salt, etc. It’s a fun recipe to play around with.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- You have to use self rising flour. Regular flour will not work for this recipe. Also you need to use Greek yogurt as that has less water in it and is thicker.
- The dough will be wet but should be too sticky. If it is you can add a little more flour on your hands to get it the way you want. However this ration of 1 cup of yogurt to 1 ½ cups flour works fine for most things.
- This 2 ingredient dough has a bit of tangy flavor so it works better for savory bagels in my opinion. However you can play around will any kind of add ins and bagel toppings. I’ve made everything spice bagels and they were awesome too.
- These small sized bagels only took 10 minutes in the air fryer. If you make yours bigger they may take a bit longer. I would try by adding a few minutes at a time and check them.

Denise-I don’t have an air fryer-can I bake them in the oven? if so, still 350 degrees for 10 mins?
Denise
Hi Cheryl I would raise the temperature to 400°F and the time to 20 minutes but check at 15 minutes. Hope that helps!
