The weather is getting colder and that means sipping hot drinks in our favorite fall flavors but I’m a bit tired of the pumpkin spice lattes. I decided to try something new this year with one of Torani’s 100+ flavor options and came up with this keto salted caramel coffee recipe.
Caramel creams just happen to be my hubby’s favorite candy and I think it’s the perfect flavor for a warming cup of coffee. It has all the creamy sweetness of this classic candy but it’s low carb and sugar free! This is the perfect recipe for a sweet treat while on a low carb diet or just if you want to watch your sugar intake. There is only 1.3 grams of carbs per drink.
The Torani coffee drink recipe contest.
I first made this recipe along time ago for Torani Sugar Free Syrups recipe contest. I have found over the years that their syrups are awesome if you are on allow carb diet. I make so many recipes with Torani syrups because they are delicious and they have over 30 sugar free flavors to pick from.
Unfortunately I did not win the contest but in a sense I was a winner because I love this recipe! The flavored whipped cream takes the place of any type of milk you would usually use in a latte and the sugar free caramel sauce is the icing on the cake.
Recipe ingredients I used and substitutions.
The are 3 parts to this recipe, the flavored coffee, flavored whipped cream and a sugar free caramel sauce. The simple ingredients I used were butter, brown sugar sweetener, heavy whipping cream, coffee, a pinch of salt and Torani sugar free Smores and Salted Caramel syrups.
Coffee
All you need is brewed coffee and if you want to skip the caffeine you can use decaf. Even instant coffee would work. I have even used Caffix coffee substitute and it was delicious.
Butter and Heavy Cream
You need these along with sweetener to make the sugar free caramel sauce. And if you don’t want to buy the sugar free Torani syrups you can use more of this simple syrup in the coffee and with the flavored whipped cream. If you don’t want to use heavy whipping cream you could try unsweetened coconut milk or coconut cream but it will not whip up as well.
Sweetener
You can use Swerve brown sugar sweetener or Lakanto Golden sweetener for that bit of brown sugar flavor in your caramel sauce. You could also use regular granulated sweetener but it would have a bit of a difference flavor. I love Swerve sweeteners but you can use your favorite sweetener.
Torani Syrups
I originally use two of my absolute favorite flavors of these syrups – the sugar free S’mores for the whipped cream and the sugar free Salted Caramel syrup flavors for this recipe. If you have these use them or buy them on Amazon because they are awesome.
However you don’t need them to make this recipe. Just make the sugar free caramel sauce and add a bit to coffee and mix and then add a bit of regular sweetener with a bit of vanilla extract when you make the whip cream topping.
Or if you have another brand with these flavors go ahead and use them. But Torani makes the best in my experience.
How to make low carb caramel sauce.
You only need 3 ingredients for this sauce and it will make enough for about 8 servings. Using a saucepan, melt butter until it starts to brown, then add in heavy cream, a pinch of salt and sweetener. Whisk and simmer until the sweetener dissolves and it thickens and becomes a syrup. This should take about 5-10 minutes.
Store in the fridge or use right away. Make sure to shake or mix it well before using.
How to make the s’mores flavored whipped cream.
To make the flavored whipped cream, add cold heavy cream along with s’mores syrup and whip until creamy using a hand mixer. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
This recipe will make a lot of whipped cream and believe me, you will want to use it on everything!
Putting together this keto salted caramel coffee recipe.
Step 1: Make the sugar free caramel sauce and let cool down.
Step 2: While that is cooking or cooling make the flavored whipped cream and refrigerate until ready to use. Remember if you don’t have any Torani’s you can use a bit of vanilla extract and your sweetener of choice. You want it to be sweet and creamy.
Step 3: Brew your coffee and pour into a mug. Add some of the Torani’s sugar free caramel syrup to the hot coffee. If you don’t have any Torani’s you can add a bit of the homemade caramel sauce and mix well.
Step 4: Add the flavored whipped topping and then swirl some more sugar free sauce on top. And that is all there is to it!
Store leftover sauce and whipped cream in air tight containers in the refrigerator and use for more delicious drinks. Please scroll down to view the printable recipe card.

To make the s'mores whipped cream
- Add the cream and s'mores syrup to a mixing bowl. Beat on high until thick and creamy and forms peaks.
- Refrigerate until ready to use.
To make the salted caramel coffee
- Add the salted caramel syrup to the coffee and mix. Spoon or pipe whipped cream on top and then drizzle some of the caramel sauce.

Thank you so very much for this wonderful recipe! I used DaVinci sugar free syrups for this and it worked beautifully! I used French Vanilla for the whipped cream and Caramel to my coffee. I added a grind of pink Himalayan salt to the top after I added the whipped topping and caramel sauce. It was to die for! Make sure you use unsalted butter for the caramel sauce. Thanks again for such a wonderful coffee treat! I will make this again and again!
