Recipe: Bulletproof Coffee

June 16, 2014 by Denise 1 Comment

I have seen this recipe many times on various Paleo blogs I follow and just tried it a couple weeks ago. Oh boy am I hooked! I look forward to my one cup of coffee a day now that make it Bulletproof!

Bulletproofexec.com is the website that originated this concept. They even sell high quality coffee and other cool things there. Essentially to make Bulletproof coffee you just need a good quality coffee and coconut oil and/or grassfed butter. I tried it a few times with both the coconut oil and butter  and it was delicious! However since I am drinking it everyday now, I just use one or two teaspoons of coconut oil. The key to success of this recipe is to put it in a blender. It will make a frothy and coconutty consistency that you will love. The butter will add a dimension of richness too.

Bulletproofexec’s recipe is more exact than I like to be but you can find the original recipe here. The great thing about this drink is that it delicious and FILLING. It will keep you going for many hours. If I drink it in the morning I can easily make to lunch with not eating. Bulletproofexec has a cool diet which incorporates IF (intermittent fasting) and the coffee really comes in handy here. I’m doing more research on this concept (IF) and will write a post about it soon.

So try this recipe at least once and see if you like. I’m sure you will be hooked!

Ingredients

  • 10 ounces brewed coffee
  • 1-3 teaspoons coconut oil
  • 1-3 teaspoons grassfed butter optional

Instructions

  1. Add coconut oil and butter along with hot coffee to a blender. Blend for a a few seconds, pour and drink!
  2. Play with the different levels of coconut oil and butter. I use 2 teaspoons coconut oil daily and add the butter for a treat. But I'm trying not to add extra calories but you might get a greater benefit from both.
