My Ninja Creami ice cream maker has changed my life. I love ice cream and have been on a quest to make low carb versions as I just didn’t like store bought versions. I didn’t like the taste and they were too expensive anyway. So today I made my newest flavor – Cookies and Cream ice cream.
I’m really building an arsenal of flavors and you can find all my healthy Ninja Creami recipes here. This is my 24th recipe and there are more to come. You can also learn more about the machine and how it works to make such delicious and creamy ice cream at home. There is nothing like eating low carb protein ice cream for dessert and feeling no guilt.

Recipe ingredients and substitutions.
The simple ice cream ingredients I used was Oreo cookies, vanilla protein powder, unsweetened almond milk, cream cheese, sweetener, heavy cream and vanilla bean paste.
TIP: Note if you are using a vanilla protein shake you can skip the almond milk, protein powder and heavy cream but still use the cream cheese. And I find FairLife vanilla protein shakes to work the best.
- Oreo Thins cookies – I used Oreo Thins cookies because I really wanted that cookies and cream flavor. I found you only had to use 1 or 2 to get the flavor and the thins were a great option. You can also find some mini Oreos that could work or maybe you have some keto cookies similar to these chocolate sandwich cookies. Remember you only need a bit to give that flavor. And if can’t eat gluten I think they even make gluten free Oreos.
- Vanilla Protein Powder & vanilla bean paste – Isopure ZeroCarb vanilla is my favorite protein powder for taste and because it has zero carbs. However you can use any kind of protein powder you want. I would stick with vanilla to amp up the vanilla flavor. I also used vanilla bean paste because I had it but you can easily substitute with vanilla extract.
- Almond Milk, Heavy Cream and Cream Cheese – This is what makes the creamy base of the ice cream. I used unsweetened almond milk, heavy whipping cream and cream cheese. If you are lactose free, the best nondairy option would be coconut milk and coconut cream. However this will lend to a coconut flavor. You could also use a nondairy cream cheese though I have not tried that. Sugar free vanilla pudding mix would work in place of the cream cheese too but that will add more carbs.
- Swerve Sweetener – I love Swerve products but you can use whatever sweetener you want. You can use granular or confectioners sweetener.

How to make cookies and cream ice cream in the Ninja Creami.
TIP: By the way I use this low carb vanilla ice cream base for lots of recipes now. You can use it with other mix-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, sugar free candy, etc to make lots of flavors.
Step 1: Add to a high speed blend or food processor the almond milk, heavy cream, cream cheese, protein powder, sweetener and vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract). Blend on high to mix well.
Then pour into the Creami pint container that came with the Ninja Creami. Attache the storage lid and place on a level surface in the freezer until frozen solid. I usually do this overnight.

Step 2: When ready to eat the ice cream, take off the storage lid and place in the outer assembly bowl and attach that lid. Place in the machine and use the LITE ice cream setting. Run through that cycle and when done, check to see what the texture and consistency. Below is what mine was.

Step 3: If yours is not creamy like the picture below but powdery texture like the one above, place back in the machine and run through the LITE cycle one more time. That’s all I needed to do.
If yours is still powder, add a tablespoon of almond milk or cream and run through the LITE cycle once more.

Step 4: Now that you have the protein ice cream base, it is time to add the Oreo crumbles. Note I only use 2 Oreo Thins per pint. I personally prefer to chop them up and hand mix them in because when you use the mix-in cycle, sometimes it whips it up too much and the pieces become too small for my liking. Also it make the ice cream even softer.
Also keep in mind if you don’t finish the whole pint. You will have to run this through the Ninja Creami once more and the pieces will really get smaller. So I suggest spooning the ice cream into a bowl and mixing in the cookies by hand but you can do as you want.

And that is all there is to it! You get a rich and creamy but healthy ice cream for a high protein dessert or snack.
If you have leftovers of this protein ice cream, just smooth out the surface and place back in the freezer. Again you will have to freeze it solid and then run it through the Ninja Creami again when you want to eat it.

Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Recipe (keto)
For a delicious low carb high protein dessert or snack try the cookies and cream ice cream made in the Ninja Creami. Creamy, sugar free, and packed with protein with 7.9 grams net carbs and 14.9 grams protein!
Ingredients
- 1 scoop Isopure ZeroCarb Vanilla Protein Powder
- ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk
- ½ heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese
- ½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
- ¼ cup Swerve sweetener
- 2 Oreo Thin cookies, chopped
- pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients except the cookies into a high speed blender and blend until well combined. Then pour into the pint container that came with Ninja Creami machine. Attach the storage lid and then place in the freezer on a level surface. Freeze overnight.
- When ready to eat place the frozen pint container into the outer bowl assembly and attach the lid. Place in the machine and hit the LITE ice cream button. When it's done check the texture. If it's powdery attach the lid again and run it through the LITE setting one more time. I had to run mine through only twice. If after the second time its still powdery, add a tablespoon of almond milk or heavy cream and run it through 1 more cycle and it should be nice and creamy.
- When done, spoon into a bowl and mix in the chopped cookies. You can run it through the machine with the mix-in button however if you don't eat the whole pint, when you refreeze it and run it through the machine again the next time, it will pulverize the cookies. I find it's easier to just add them when eating but you can do it either way.
- If you have leftovers, smooth the surface of the ice cream and refreeze.
