I’m 48 and while my skin is not that bad, I wish I had taken better care of it when I was young. So now is the time I’m trying to play catch up and find natural, simple beauty products to put on my face. As I get older I have a desire to make my life simpler and not have to rely on various toners, moisturizers, masks and so forth. That’s why I turned to essential oils.
Originally I bought this roll-on serum from Plant Therapy. It is excellent and I love the roller ball application. However I seemed to go through it quickly so what I do now is make my own. They have quite few essential oils in their product, but I’ve narrowed my recipe down to this:
The Anti-Aging Serum Recipe:
Before I begin, please note that you should always use pure essential oils on your skin and you should read up on them before you do. They can be potent and powerful. There are many good essential oil companies out there and if you are reading this, you probably already have a favorite. I’ve used Aura Casia Essential oils for about 20 years and recently I use a lot of Plant Therapy oils. I feel both are excellent quality.
My recipe is 14 drops of pure essential oils to 1 Tablespoon of carrier oil. In this case I am using apricot kernel but you can us olive oil, avocado or almond oil.
- 3 drops Frankincense
- 3 Â drops Helichrysum
- 2 drops Lavender
- 2 drops Geranium
- 2 drops Roman Chamomile
- 2 drops Carrot Seed
It’s very similar to my Bath and Body Oil with the addition of the carrot seed oil.
I picked the above essential oils for the following properties of each oil:
- Lavender:Â Â Anti-inflammatory, soothing, used for skin care, prevents aging
- Geranium:Â Soothes inflammation and irritated skin, good for both dry and oil skin, aids in poor circulation, prevents aging
- Chamomile:Â Anti-inflammatory, burns, allergies, reduces puffiness
- Frankincense:Â Anti-inflammatory, well suited for skin conditions from wrinkles to scars, good for dry skin
- Helichrysum:Â Anti-inflammatory, used for skin irritations, sagging skins
- Carrot Seed: Skin rejuvenating oil, good for mature skin
So to make this recipe just add the essential oils to the carrier oil and keep in a  glass container if possible. Make sure you shake it well before using. I apply a little of the oil in the morning and at night before I go to bed. If you have a roller ball bottle it makes it so much easier. I use my old bottle pictured above but you can buy them on Amazon here.
This is what I use. Please let me know how it works for you. And if you have any suggestions, please let me know as I always love learning more about essential oils!

Do you have to use helichrysum as an essential oil or can you use a different one? I don’t have that so was wondering what I could use in its place? Thank you
Denise
Hi Darlene, You can just leave it out. It is an unusual oil and the other oils should suffice.

I’ve read that carrot seed oil is good for you but had no idea it (and other oils) could be used as an anti-aging serum. Will definitely be purchasing the ones I don’t have so I can try this too. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

I didn’t even think to make my own anti-aging serum, what a wonderful idea. Thanks for linking up to the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Party. I have pinned your post to the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Board.
