I recently had a party and bought a bunch of King’s Hawaiian buns and had leftovers so I was excited to make some slider recipes. I made two different kinds and these bacon cheeseburger sliders were my favorite. Though the others were good too and I’ll share those soon.
These cheeseburger sliders have ground hamburger, bacon, good cheddar cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato and mayo all on a sesame seed bun! So good and fun to eat. We actually had them for dinner and it was really fun to eat!
Recipe ingredients I used.
The simple ingredients I used for this dish were King’s Hawaiian butter rolls, ground beef, steak seasoning, bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, ripe tomato, red or yellow onion, lettuce, mayo, butter and sesame seeds.
Important Note – I first made these with King’s Hawaiian original sweet rolls and to me and my family they were too sweet. We much preferred using the butter rolls. If you are familiar with these rolls you can use what your prefer but if not, make sure to buy the butter rolls.
As for the other ingredients you can easily add or take away any toppings you want. I just used our favorite cheeseburger toppings. Also you can change up the cheese for American cheese, Monterey Jack, etc.
How to make bacon cheeseburger sliders.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and cook the bacon.
- Heat up a large nonstick skillet to medium high heat and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Add the ground beef, turn the heat down to medium and sprinkle steak seasoning over the beef. Brown ground beef until cooked through then turn off the heat. Note you can use lean ground beef if you want.
- Get out a baking sheet and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half like you would a bagel. Spread the cooked ground beef mixture over all the bottom of the sliders.
- Next layer the slices of cheese over the meat and top with the cooked bacon slices. I used about 1 slice of bacon per slider.
- Place the top of the slider buns on the sandwiches and spray a little more cooking spray (brush buns with melted butter). Sprinkle the sesame seeds, cover with foil and place in the oven for 10-15 minutes until rolls are golden brown on top and the cheese is melted.
- Take off the buns and top with your favorite burger toppings. I used shredded Romaine lettuce, thin sliced red onion, ripe tomato slices and mayonnaise on the top of the buns.
- Place the top of the Hawaiian rolls back on the sliders and serve! (Please scroll down to view and print the recipe card.)
Below you can see I only made 6 baked sliders but the recipe card below is for 12 which how the buns come in a package. I just happened to make two kinds of sliders that day.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- When adding the bacon and cheese, you want the bacon to be on top of the layer of cheese so when you pull off the tops to add the cold ingredients the cheese will be sticking to the bacon not the tops of the buns.
- The sesame seeds were just for show and in my opinion do not add to the taste of the burgers so that is up to you whether you want to use them or not. You could also use butter and garlic powder on top for a garlic bread taste.
- Using the ground beef loose like this is much easier to make but if you wanted to make burger patties you could. Or you can spread out the beef into a baking dish, cook in the oven and then cut into squares to fit the buns. That was too much work for me.
- You could also serve these with just the meat, bacon and cheese for a party and then have a toppings bar for everyone to make there own. Offer ketchup, yellow mustard, mayo, tomato, onions, lettuce, dill pickle slices, hot sauce, etc. If you wanted to do Big Macs I have a special sauce recipe.
Well these mini burgers were not my normal low carb recipe but it was so tasty and fun and would be perfect football food. Take them to a party, tailgate or anywhere you have to feed a hungry crowd. Or do like we did and eat them for dinner. Enjoy!
Baked Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders
These baked bacon cheeseburger sliders make great party food or just a deliciously fun dinner. Top with your favorite burger toppings for a tasty appetizer that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Ingredients
- 12Â pack dinner rolls (I used King's Hawaiian Butter Rolls)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 teaspoons steak seasoning
- 12 slices bacon (thin sliced bacon)
- 6 slices sharp cheddar cheeseÂ
- 2 cups of shredded lettuce
- 12 slices of tomato
- 12 slices red onion (thin slices)
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and cook the bacon anyway you want. You can even use precooked bacon if you wish.
- Heat up a large nonstick skillet to medium high heat and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Add the ground beef and steak seasoning. Then turn it down to medium heat and brown the beef until it's cooked through. If you don't have steak seasoning just season with salt and black pepper.
- Get out a baking tray and spray with nonstick cooking spray. Cut the buns in half like you would a bagel.
- Spoon beef mixture over all the bottom of the sliders.
- Next layer the cheddar cheese slices over the meat mixture and top with the cooked bacon. I overlapped the cheese and used about 1 slice of bacon per slider.
- Place the top of the buns on the sandwiches and spray a little more cooking spray (or use melted butter). Sprinkle the sesame seeds, cover baking sheet with foil and place in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the buns are golden brown on top and the cheese is melted.
- Take off the buns and top with your favorite burger toppings. I used shredded Romaine lettuce, thin sliced red onion, ripe tomato slices and mayonnaise on the top of the buns.
- Place the top of the buns back on the sliders and serve!
Notes
- Just make sure when add the cheese and bacon that the bacon is on top. Otherwise the cheese will stick to the top of the buns and make it hard to get apart so you can put on your cold toppings.
- Use whatever toppings you want on your bacon cheeseburgers. You can even change up the type of cheese you want and the amounts.
- You could also serve these with just the meat, bacon and cheese for a party and then have a toppings bar for everyone to make there own. Offer ketchup, yellow or dijon mustard, mayo, tomato, onions, lettuce, dill pickle slices, hot sauce, etc. If you wanted to do Big Macs I have a special sauce recipe.
