These air fryer steak tips smothered in peppers, onions and mushrooms make for an easy and tasty keto dinner. You can make them in the air fryer or a cast iron skillet. Either way you end up with juicy steak dinner in little time. A high protein low carb meal.

Last month or so I made a ribeye steak with mushrooms in the air fryer it was so easy. So last week I bought just 1 steak and made these air fryer steak tips with peppers, onions and mushrooms. It was so good I made it this week in a cast iron skillet.
My family loves peppers, onions and mushrooms on most anything but it’s really good with a nice steak. Whether I made it in an air fryer or skillet it took me less than 30 minutes of cooking. This is a high protein low carb dinner with 5g net carbs per serving and it’s Paleo friendly too.

To make this keto dinner, I used just 1 large steak , bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, melted butter and garlic.
Note that the steak was about 1lb (16 oz) and when you cut it up with all the veggies you ended up with 3 good servings of this dinner.
What cut of meat should I use?
The types of steak you use is up to you. I have used Delmonico, ribeye and strip steaks with equal success. The quality of meat will affect the taste. Look for marbling in the meat for maximum flavor. Learn more about marbling here.
Let’s make some garlic butter steak tips (air fryer & skillet versions)!
- First thing you want to do is cut up the meat into bite size pieces or cubes. You also want to chop up your peppers, onions and mushrooms as well.
- Melt the butter for about 15 seconds in the microwave and then mix with the crushed garlic.
- Mix the meat, veggies, melted butter with garlic, salt and black pepper together in a large mixing bowl.
- If using the air fryer: Spray the basket with cooking spray and then place and spread the meat and vegetables evenly in the basket. Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes, then mix well and cook for 5 -10 minutes more depending on how you like your steak.
- If making in a skillet: Heat up a cast iron or other skillet over medium high heat. Pour the meat and veggies mixture and spread evenly in pan. Try to keep them undisturbed for 5 minutes to get a nice sear. Then mix them and cook for another 5 minutes. Continue doing this until the meat is cooked through about 20 minutes total.

These air fryer steak bites with peppers, onions and mushrooms can be made in the skillet too for an easy but delicious keto dinner.
Ingredients
- 16 oz ribeye or other type of steak, cut into cubes
- 8 oz mushrooms, quartered
- 1 cup of bell peppers, chopped
- ¼ cup onion slices
- 2 tablespoons of butter melted
- 1 clove of garlic, crushed
- fresh parsley to garnish (optional)
