I’ve been creating more and more air fryer recipes lately. And my latest creation is this keto bacon wrapped meatloaf. I took my basic low carb meatloaf recipe, placed strips of salty bacon on top instead of a glaze and popped it in the air fryer.
The result was this tasty air fryer meatloaf that my family scarfed down. I think they would eat just about anything wrapped in bacon but nonetheless it was a really good weeknight meal.
The meatloaf ingredients I used.
This meatloaf is low carb and gluten free because I did not use bread crumbs or stale bread like a classic meatloaf recipe.
Below you can see the simple ingredient I used which were meatloaf mix (ground beef, pork and veal), garlic Worcestershire sauce, egg, tomato paste, onion powder, parmesan cheese and of course bacon.
If you can find meatloaf mix at your local grocery store you can just use regular ground beef. But if you can find it try the meatloaf mix as add even more flavor.
While I haven’t tried this with lean ground beef not ground turkey I do think either would work because the bacon will add a lot of flavor.
How to cook bacon wrapped meatloaf in the air fryer.
To me this delicious meatloaf is pure comfort food and air frying makes it easy.
Step 1: Let the meat come to room temperature for best results. Then preheat air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes while you for the loaf.
Step 2: Beat the egg in a large mixing bowl and then add everything except the bacon to it. I like to use a big fork to try to mix everything around without over working the meat mixture. Then use my hand to form the meatloaf mixture into a flat oval or rectangular shape.
Step 3: Take the bacon slices and wrap them all the way under the meatloaf. If you do not, the bacon will curl and disengage from the ground meat. Try to overlap the slices.
Step 4: Once the air fryer has preheated, spray the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray. If you want you could like the basket with foil to eliminate some of the mess. I did not though.
Step 5: Cook at 380°F for 50-60 minutes or until the internal temperature is 160°F (source) when using a meat thermometer and the bacon is cooked to your liking.
Step 6: Take out of the air fryer and let cooked meatloaf sit for a few minutes before serving. You might want to use a serrated knife to cut through the bacon. Store leftover meatloaf in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Note cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer and the size of your meatloaf. Just keep checking towards the end of cooking to make sure it’s cooked through and not burned. (Please scroll down for the printable recipe card.)
To make this in the oven instead of the air fryer.
The general rule of thumb is to increase the temperature as well as increase the cook time. So you would set the temperature to roughly 400°F and cook it for 60-70 minutes until the internal temperature is 160°F.
If you want the bacon crispier after it’s reached temperature, you can place it under the broiler. Let the meatloaf rest for about 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
Keto side dishes to serve with this meatloaf.
Because this is such a meaty main course with the bacon and all a green vegetable and salad is what I usually make. If you wanted to add a few vegetables like potatoes or carrots to the air fryer, they should take about 30 minutes to roast so put them in after the meatloaf has cooked for 20 minutes.
However if you want to keep it keto, try this loaded cauliflower mash, baked cauliflower and cheese, these roasted veggie noodles or this cheesy broccoli cauliflower rice.
This keto air fryer meatloaf is so good and definitely a one that my family loves. I hope you give it a try.

Keto Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf in the Air Fryer
This keto bacon wrapped meatloaf is super easy in the air fryer. Just mix, wrap and bake for a tasty low carb weeknight dinner your family will love. It will be your new favorite meatloaf recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 â…“ pounds meat loaf mix
- 1 egg, beaten
- â…“ cup parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
- 7 pieces of baconÂ
Instructions
- Let the meat come to room temperature for best results. Then preheat the air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes while you for the loaf.
- Beat the egg in a large mixing bowl and then add everything except the bacon to it. I like to use a big fork to try to mix everything around without over working the ground meat. Then use my hand to form mixture into an oval or rectangle shape.
- Take the bacon slices and wrap them all the way under the meatloaf. If you do not, the bacon will curl and disengage from the ground meat. Try to overlap the slices.
- Once the air fryer has preheated, take out the basket and spray with nonstick cooking spray. You could line the basket with aluminum foil if you want to eliminate some of the mess. Just make sure to spray the foil with cooking spray too.
- Cook at 380°F for 50-60 minutes or until the internal temperature is 160°F when using a meat thermometer and the bacon is cooked to your liking. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
- Note cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer and the size of your meatloaf so check every once in a while toward the end. If you find the bacon is getting very crisp and you need ot cook it more, you can put a piece of foil over top to keep the bacon from browning.
Notes
- This meatloaf is both gluten free and low carb because we are not using breadcrumbs or stale bread like you normally would to keep the meatloaf moist. But both the meatloaf mix and bacon help with that and both eliminate the carbs.
- Also I usually use a spicy or sweet glaze like bbq sauce or ketchup however these would add more carbs. If you have a low carb glaze that you like you can add this before the you place the bacon strips on top.Â
