This chocolate orange protein matcha drink is a great way to start your morning. Added protein and matcha green tea will give you a boost of energy and it’s only 3.7g net carbs so it’s low carb too.
I’ve been craving chocolate lately. I want to eat it everyday and I am especially in the mood to sip a cup of something hot and chocolatey. So that is why I came up with this chocolate orange protein matcha drink. I’ve never really cared for chocolate and orange together but once I tried this drink I was hooked. I really like the smell of oranges. It reminds me of summer and I’m already missing the warm weather and sunshine. So perhaps that is part of the reason I like this drink so much. The first time I made it I used 1 drop of pure essential oil and it was fab. However not everyone is into essential oils so I decided to try this with orange zest and it was equally as delicious so here you go. Another delicious green tea matcha recipe.
As I mentioned I used a pure essential oil the first time I made this. I have been wanting to experiment with essential oils in my cooking but have never gotten around to it. My friend Autumn sells Doterra oils and she gives classes on them in her yoga studio. She has convinced me of their (Doterra) quality and she uses them for everything with great success. If you from Pittsburgh she has an essential oils class usually monthly at her yoga studio and it’s very informative. Check it out.
However in this recipe I just use orange zest! That’s where sweet orange essential oil comes from after all. I also added coconut oil for the creaminess and some Great Lakes Gelatin (green canister) for a good source of protein. This is what I have for breakfast most days. And we can’t forget my beloved Steeped matcha green tea.

As far as sweetener goes, I use a vanilla stevia. You could use coconut sugar, maple syrup, splenda, white sugar… whatever you please. I didn’t put any amounts for that because everyone’s taste is different. However it does need sweetener. Also if you are a carb counter, below is the nutrition per cup. I have not included the orange zest in my calculation because it wasn’t in my calorie counter but on this site it was 0.
205 cals / 14.6g fat / 4.7g carbs / 1g fiber / 13.3 g protein = 3.7g net carbs

I love trying your Matcha drinks. I ‘m not a big fan of citrus and chocolate, but I wanted to give Chocolate Orange Protein Matcha a try. Not bad, and great and easy breakfast, it kept me full for hours.
