I love all the flavors of a Big Mac sandwich, especially for salads. And because the big football game is coming in February I thought I’d try these easy Big Mac nachos out for the big day. I LOVE this food mashup. While I love the keto salad version (and I have a keto smash burger post as well) this was perfect for a football game.
The ground beef is seasoned to taste like a burger and then I added special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions but no sesame bun. For that I substituted tortilla chips! This got a 2 thumbs up from me!
Recipe ingredients and substitutions.
All you need to make this easy snack is ground beef, steak seasoning, corn tortilla chips, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions. The special sauce is made up of French dressing, mayonnaise, dried onion spice, pickles, sweetener and apple cider vinegar or white vinegar.
- ground beef and steak seasoning – I like to use Montreal steak seasoning with ground beef to get that burger flavor. You can use any kind of steak seasoning and if you don’t have any, just generously season with salt and black pepper. I would also use a leaner grade of hamburger so as not to have too much grease. I use 85% or 90%.
- corn tortilla chips – I use regular corn tortilla chips. You can use whatever is your favorite brand and kind. If you are on a low carb diet I will tell you how below. You could also use corn chips like Fritos.
- lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions – These are things that go on a standard Big Mac. You can eliminate what you don’t like but really the point of the recipe is to gather all those same flavors of the famous hamburger. I used dill pickles not sweet ones. And I use shredded cheddar cheese instead of American cheese which is what I would use if I was making this a burger. You can use whatever kind of shredded cheese you want but I think cheddar works the best with the other flavors. Also I used red onion because I like the color but you can use yellow or white onions.
- special sauce – I’ve made this special for my Big Mac recipes and kept it low carb because that’s what I do. I used Catalina French dressing (the darker red sweet one) as the base and dried onion spice, chopped dill pickles, apple cider vinegar, sweetener and mayo. Basically you want a thousand Island dressing type of flavor. If you want to just by a bottle of the dressing and use that it would work. Or if you want to make your own you can. You can also substitute ketchup for the French dressing in a pinch or even tomato paste.

How to make Big Mac nachos.
Step 1: First you have to make the special sauce. Get out a medium size bowl and add the mayo, apple cider vinegar, sweetener (or sugar), chopped pickle, French dressing and dried onion. Mix together well to make the sauce. Set aside or refrigerate until ready to use.
Note this Big Mac sauce is more than you need for the nachos. It’s make 12 tablespoons of burger sauce and I only used 3 tablespoons. You can use as much as you want but save the rest as you can use it on burgers or as a salad dressing.

Step 2: Now to make the seasoned ground beef. Get out a large skillet or frying pan and heat to medium high heat. When hot add the ground beef and break apart with a wood spoon. Sprinkle the steak seasoning over top and brown the ground meat.

Step 3: To assemble the Big Mac nachos, get out a large plate or platter and spread out the corn tortilla chips. Spoon the seasoning ground beef over top and the sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese. If the meat is hot enough it will make the cheese melt a bit.
If you want the cheese melted you can place the plate in the oven under the broiler for a few minutes but keep an eye on it so the chips don’t burn.
Step 4: Now all you have to do is add the rest of the toppings, shredded lettuce, shopped dill pickles, diced onions and the drizzle the Big Mac sauce. If you want you can even sprinkle some sesame seeds on top. I didn’t want to but it would go with the theme.

You can make as much as or as little as you want of the ground beef and it will be great on to have on hand if you have extras. Just store in an airtight container. I use it on salads, in soup or casseroles. I would double the batch and use it on salads, in soup or casseroles.
Or you can freeze it and use it another day. Just store in a freezer bag and thaw over night or use the defrost function of your microwave.

If you want to make this recipe low carb.
Basically the ingredients are pretty low carb, especially if you use sweetener in the special sauce. So as a substitute for the corn tortillas which have the carbs in the dish, you can either buy keto nacho chips like I did in this keto pulled pork nachos recipe. I used Quest brand of chips and they are good but not readily available in most stores. Target carries them sometimes.
You can also make your own tortilla chips as I did in this post. You will have to use low carb flour tortillas and while they are not as crunchy as corn tortillas they will still be good for a low carb snack. You can buy keto tortillas at Aldi and many grocery stores these days.
Lastly if you just want that Big Mac flavor you can make a Big Mac salad bowl or try these keto smash burgers. You can also just add all the toppings to the skillet and eat it like that with no chips. Use sweet bell peppers or just a fork to scoop it up.

I hope you like this quick and easy Big Mac nachos recipe. I LOVED it and it really is tasty for all of your Big Mac lovers out there. Enjoy!
