Day Tripping with Rick – Kona, Hawaii – Going North

So last time we went south out of Kona to see windswept scenery and volcanoes. This time we’ll be going north to some of finest beaches in the islands.

We are still basing at our condo south of Kona. There is no good beach there, just a lot of lava rock, but the sea is pretty none-the-less. Somebody cut steps down and a few hardy souls take an ocean swim every day. I prefer sand.

Rick has his own blog now. Yay Rick! Please click here for the rest of the article and check out the rest of Rick’s site: Day Tripping with Rick.

You make Kona come alive, much needed in the cold winter days in the states! Thanks for linking up to Awesome Life Friday!

It looks like it was a great trip. The first photo reminded me of the beaches of Adriatic see in my homeland. Beautiful!

Good memories of all my times in Hawaii and especially on the big island. I love it there.

I have to write…please forgive me, but please do not refer to yourself as a whale. I have been in the water with many whales, many times. You are no whale. You have a body that afforded you time with your child in a beautiful place. That is beautiful.

I’m about 100 lb heavier than when I was playing hockey at Penn State 35 years ago. I’m eating healthy with Denise’ cooking. It’s so good, I just eat too much 🙂

Ahhh, 69 Beach- my husband and I honeymooned on the Big Island and we LOVED 69 Beach- the best part was definitely the lack of crowds. The tides were high when we were there and it looks even better with a low tide!

I stopped over from Hit Me With Your Best Shot.

Our guide book said to go to Hapuna but there was a long line to get in there. Somebody told us about 69s and we loved it. There was a lava outcropping about 50 ft off the beach, and a huge sea turtle was there eating turtle grass. How cool is that?

Himself and I had a wonderful time on the Big Island a few years ago — just the two of us. We went all around the island. We’d been to Maui before, which is also lovely — but so different!
