This mango matcha green smoothie is thick and delicious and good for your too. Healthy greens and the boost of matcha green tea make this a great breakfast choice.
I love avocados and sometimes I treat them as if they are made of gold. For instance it pains me to use a couple of avocados in recipes like pudding or even salad dressing but I have. Instead, I prefer to treat myself with a slice or two on a salad or sandwich. However I recently I decide to add half of one to a smoothie. I felt a little reckless but I did it because I knew it was a source of good-for-you-fats that I wanted to add to my morning smoothie. The result was unbelievable… to me at least. It made this mango matcha green smoothie so thick and delicious.
I’ve made lots of smoothies before (Berry Smoothie, Peanut Butter Smoothie, Pumpkin Smoothie) but this is my newest craving. There are only a few ingredients so I can make this for my breakfast in just minutes. I used power greens I bought at Costco but baby spinach always works. You all know I’m a huge matcha fan so I had to have my morning matcha fix for a little caffeine boost. And lastly I added the mango for it’s bright, tropical sweetness. So I just add everything to my Vitamix and I am good to go. Look at how thick and creamy that smoothie is. Yummy! I also added a little stevia because I do like my smoothies sweet sometimes. I could have added more mango but I was watching my carbs (imagine that!).

TIP: I bought some avocados from Costco too which means I had a big bunch of them. There is nothing I hate more than wasting food, and sometimes it’s hard to eat all those avocados at once. So I tried freezing them and it worked like a charm. Of course I only use these frozen avocados in my smoothies so I can’t vouch for any other uses but it was great. So I highly recommend buying your avocados in bulk and freezing them when they become ripe. So that’s all I have for you today. I thought I’d start this Monday off right and with this tasty, healthy breakfast. Enjoy!
- ½ avocado
- ½ teaspoon matcha green tea
- ½ cup mango
- 2 handfuls greens
- 1 cup almond milk
- stevia to taste
- Add everything but the avocado to a high speed blender and blend for a minute or two until you see that all the greens are well blended.
- Then add your avocado and blend until nice and creamy.
- If this is too creamy, add some more almond milk or water a little at a time.
- You can add flax to this too if you want a little more fiber.
- I like my smoothies cold so using my avocados frozen does that for me but if you are using fresh avocados you might want to add a few ice cubes to make it cold.
