So rumor has it that chia drinks are expensive. I can’t say that I’ve ever bought one seeing as they seem so easy to make yourself. I thought this would be a fun thing to try with some of the great Steeped Teas I bought from my friend Debbie. I am definitely doing a post on different things you can do with tea as I drink tea morning, noon and night. This is just one example of how you can use these delicious, calorie free teas.
The tea I choose was called Berry Mania Fruit Tea. It contains hibiscus, elderberries, dried currants and natural flavors. It looks, smells and tastes great. Plus it has no caffeine so I can drink it all day and not worry about it affecting my sleep. So I make it often.
The recipe is quite simple. Just add 3Tablespoons of chia seeds to 1 cup water. Mix and refrigerate till the seeds start to gel the water. This is what mine looked like after 1 hour.
As you can see it is pretty full. Next I mixed 1 cup of my Steeped Berry Mania tea with half of this chia mixture and a little sweetener.
Shake it well before drinking. This recipe makes at least 2 big glasses of tea but you could probably stretch the chia seeds and make the drink thinner if you wish. You could do this with any kind of tea or juice. It simple, delicious and healthy and a good dose of fiber and omega 3’s! Enjoy.
